Sensory stimulation is a great way to bring back fond memories and at Birch Green they recently held a special, ‘smelly’ activity.
During the session, Birch Green had 12 jars with a range of different smells. Residents tried to guess the smell and share what it reminded them of.
Many fond memories were shared – resident Mildred was reminded of her father who used to grow his own mint and make mint sauce to mix with new potatoes.
Edna and Lilly were in agreement that even though they loved brass ornaments at home, there was nothing worse than having to clean it with Brasso.
It was a great activity and one which made for an entertaining afternoon.
