One of Birch Green’s oldest residents, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Burrows, couldn’t make it to her granddaughter’s wedding, so the wedding came to her.
Betty, 95, was unable to attend granddaughter Janet’s wedding day due to ill health. Janet married husband Lee at Ormskirk registry office, with a reception at nearby Briars Hall Hotel where guests enjoyed a meal of fish and chips.
As a result, a number of family members arrived at Birch Green to spend time with Betty, in an open-top bus.
Betty told us the surprise visit ‘made her day’ and helped to ensure she felt part of the celebrations.
