Autumn colours for Birch Green display

Birch Green Care Home’s central display has changed with the seasons this week.

The popular feature was specially decorated after our residents headed out on an walk to collect autumnal mementoes including conkers, leaves, twigs and berries.

They now have pride of place in our display, pictured, which also features some warm clothes. We’re sure visitors will be impressed by the hard work and the finished display.

Birch Green’s charity coffee morning

Birch Green Care Home’s charity coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support raised a total of £75.

The fun event saw plenty of tasty treats on offer including the ever-popular cupcakes baked by Vicky's mum, Kath.

A huge thank you to all those who came to support us and our fundraising efforts!

Alzheimer’s Day coffee morning

Recently residents and staff took part in National Alzheimer’s Day by baking and enjoying delicious cakes to raise funds for charity.

The Alzheimer’s Society provides a range of vital services for people across the UK who are affected by the disease including a national helpline, online support, publications and fact sheets which are designed to provide useful information to those who need it most.

Everyone tucked into an array of beautifully decorated cakes including chocolate fudge brownies, meringue nests with fresh cream along with fruit and ginger cakes.

A brilliant day was had by all while supporting a cause close to Birch Green’s heart.

A warm welcome to singing sensation Steve Sutton

Last week entertainer Steve Sutton joined Birch Green for an afternoon of fun.

This was Steve’s first visit to the home and everyone gave him a warm welcome - it wasn’t long after his performance started that some of his audience were showing off their own singing and dancing skills.

The playlist included some old-time favourites mixed with a few new songs which got residents in good spirits while they rock and rolled the afternoon away.

Steve finished off with some classics and thanked residents and staff for a lovely afternoon – he looks forward to returning soon.
