Birch Green’s residents had an ‘egg-cellent’ day recently thanks to a visit from a local school.

The pupils from St James’ Catholic Primary School in Skelmersdale stopped by for a session of Easter-themed crafts in the Bistro.

There were plenty of activities to choose from including colouring in eggs and making paper flowers. After lunch we enjoyed the sunshine with fun and games in the garden.

Birch Green Care Home’s popular Lunch Club met recently to enjoy preparing and eating a tasty lunch.

The club, which evolved from the home’s weekly cooking class, sees a group of our ladies and gentlemen getting together to make their own lunch.

Ingredients are provided, and in recent weeks the group has enjoyed pita bread pizzas salads and sandwiches, beans on toast with various toppings and Welsh rarebit.

It’s a great way to relax in good company and enjoy a tasty meal afterwards!

Plants grown by Birch Green residents will soon be ready to take their place in our sensory garden.

The weekly gardening club has proved very popular and has spent time nurturing a variety of seedlings.

They are starting to grow quickly now and we’re looking forward to transferring them to our sensory garden where they will help our residents and visitors spend time and relax in the fresh air.

Here at Birch Green we love a chance for a celebration, and couldn’t wait to join in the Ladies Day racing fun.

It was glasses of fizz all round with betting slips, fascinators and our best racing day clothes on display. A few gentlemen got in on the action too as we all enjoyed the sporting occasion in style.
